Not long after, Eugene takes notice of a couple of well-dressed folks being led through the area by Mercer (Michael James Shaw). As Ezekiel struggles with his cancer, Princess asks the soldiers to provide him with medical treatment. However, Negan tells her that their relationship will only work if they are honest, and as far as he's concerned, he's just speaking his truth.Īt the Commonwealth, Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Princess (Paola Lázaro), Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and the so-called Stephanie (Chelle Ramos) are fulfilling their punishment by clearing walkers on the outskirts of the community. As expected, Maggie is horrified by his response. He also confesses that he should've killed all of them - not just Glenn and Abraham - to ensure his people's survival. He tries to relate to her as a leader who lost his people and community. After, Negan continues his effort to convince Maggie he's changed. As such, he uses his past experience as a Whisperer to teach Maggie how to blend in with the dead and properly wear, as he puts it, "someone else's face." While she initially fumbles, practice makes perfect, and it's not long before she's walking among the walkers. Negan decides a little undercover mission is in order. With their arrival, the group ties the zombified Reapers to trees and formulates a plan to infiltrate the former Meridian as Gabriel scouts ahead. Following the zombie are other casualties from the Reaper attack. They are interrupted by a walker, who happens to be the best friend of Elijah's (Okea Eme-Akwari) missing sister. As such, she agrees to his terms, and the two seal the deal with a semi-hostile handshake and an unnerving smile from Negan. Outnumbered, Negan asks Maggie to make a deal: he helps her, she considers them "even." Of course, Maggie says they will never be even, considering the fact Negan bashed her husband's head in however, she needs more people to accomplish the task at hand. Unfortunately for Negan, Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) sides with Maggie.
The issue that's prevailed over multiple-episode remains: Negan wants to return to Alexandria with what little supplies they have, and Maggie wants to wait for her people and get more food. As Maggie and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) butt heads, the series continues its trend of making them into the show's unhappiest duo. The Walking Dead's latest Season 11 episode, "Promises Broken," picks up on Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Co.'s storyline.
